distilled oil from the roots of
Hedychium Spicatum. This plant is distributed in Western
himalayas at an altitude
of about 3500-7500 Feet above sea level. The Essential Oil
is obtained by steam distillation of rhizome.The common name is
Kapoor Kachri Oil. In Japan it is called Sanna Oil
Uses and Advance Studies:
Due
to its woody,spicy & peculiar odour like roots, it is used in
Perfume Formulations. Cobatine Fragrance which won award in 1994
in Europe was the flower fragrances of this plant. It blend well
with Jasmine, Tuberose et, to give it warm and spicy odour.
This
oil is one of the important component of Heena Atter being used
in tobacco flavour and incense sticks etc.
The rootstock is acrid, bitter, pungent,heating, astringent,
useful in inflammations,asthma, pains, foul breath, bronchitis,
hiccough, vomiting, “tridosha”, diseases of the blood (Ayurveda).
